Career development event for parents, students, career advisers and young people!

The Defence Force Recruitment Liaison Officer Mabel Laidlaw and has organise “Women in Uniform” Commander Michelle Miller who is in command of ANZAC class frigate HMAS Perth to be our guest speaker, as well as a tour of Garden Island for October 7th. Please the attached brochure for more detail.

Please note: That due to Island Security requirements and for catering purposes all registrations must be in by 26th of September.

Seats are limited for Island tour so please register as soon as possible

CO Photograph Jun07In mid 2007 Michele became the Royal Australian Navy’s first female Commanding Officer of a Major Fleet Unit, assuming command of the Anzac class frigate HMAS Perth The Australian Defence Force is constantly developing new opportunities and one of their key recruitment objectives is to attract women to a career in defence. Michele has experienced more in her navy career than most people do in a lifetime and we are very privileged to have her share with us details about her life, learning and work. As a woman in a non-traditional role and an Officer serving in the ADF Michele will talk about the benefits a career in the Australian Defence Force can offer not just for women but any young person who wants to learn new skills and live life to the full.

Royce will inform us about the benefits, challenges and rewards of life as an Officer Cadet and give us an insight into life at the Academy. ADFA are proud to train the future leaders of the Australian Defence Force and combines academics, taught by UNSW staff with military training and education. Information will be on display and members of the Defence Force Recruiting Team from Perth will be available to answer all your questions regarding the different pathways available in the Australian Defence Force. With over 280 different careers in defence there is sure to be something for everyone.

TOUR OF HMAS STIRLING FLEET BASE WEST

Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a two hour guided coach tour of the Royal Australian Navy Fleet base at HMAS Stirling described as “Australia’s Jewel in the Defence Crown”. An outstanding example of how modern Defence Infrastructure and the Environment can live together in harmony. The tour will include National Park areas of Garden Island with a short stop at the monument at Cliff Head which commemorates the landing of Captain James Stirling on Garden Island in 1829.
