| Professional Indemnity Insurance - Are you covered??? |
 |
|
Associate, Professional, and Fellow Members all have access to professional indemnity insurance. There is no additional costs for this, however to be covered you must complete and return the Professional Indemnity Insurance Declaration Form for 2010. Last year nearly half of the members eligible for the cover missed out simply because they had not returned their declaration form. If you have not received your confirmation of cover or sent in your declaration form please do so ASAP.
The form can be downloaded here - pdf. For further information see the PI Insurance FAQs or contact the National Office on

| Recording CPD on the Evolve Website |
Questions you were too afraid to ask... |
There is only room for one date per CPD item, what do you do for a conference that is for several days, or meetings that are multiple dates?
Just include the starting date of the meeting or conference but in the 'CPD Description' field note that the 'event' was over a number of different days.
I only have the option for CDAA under 'CDP Association', what if the PD was not run by the CDAA?
This field relates to the association which you are claiming the CPD hours for (if you are a member of more than one CICA affiliated association then you will have a choice in the drop down menu). The provider of the CPD should be entered into the 'host' field.
What is the difference between the fields 'CDP Description' and 'Notes or Comments'?
The 'CPD
Description' field is for a couple of sentences that describe what the activity was about. The 'Notes and Comments' field is where you record some reflections on what you learnt from the activity.
Record your CPD online at: www.activ8evolve.com/Members/default.asp

RETIREMENT PLANNING AND CAREER TRANSITION: MAKING AGE A BENEFIT NOT BARRIER
Ms Kaye Fallick, Publisher, Your Life magazine
@boutSeniors website
With approximately five million Baby Boomer pre-retirees beginning to consider the dreaded “r” word, they have never been more in need of objective career counselling. Many are keen to work on, but do not properly understand the options they have, and how to best access sound career advice. The recent Global Financial Crisis has seen a strong recognition that most 50+ Australians will need to work longer to supplement their income, but many would like to segue into a time of less full time work and more time to pursue hobbies, volunteering, mentoring and community service. This demographic ‘tide’ presents a strong opportunity for career counsellors who wish to assist such workers – but how do you reach such a diverse demographic segment and what does research tell us about their career planning preferences? This workshop and PowerPoint presentation will offer three main themes:
- Presentation of research conducted on, and exclusive to, About Seniors website – including key findings of 50+ demographic on attitudes to work, retirement and staying work relevant
- Presentation of latest international research on attitudes to ongoing work and career planning for older workers
- Key learnings for counsellors keen to reach such workers and develop an ongoing career transition advice relationship with them.
Attendees will be given workbooks which include slide notes. There will be a 40-minute presentation and a 20-minute Q&A developing the themes of how to add value for a Baby Boomer client and keep them engaged in the career planning process.
