Australian Psychotherapy and Counselling Workforce Study
The Australian Psychotherapy and Counselling Workforce Study is part of a large international study developed by the Collaborative Research Network (CRN) of the Society for Psychotherapy Research (SPR) and examines the development and practice of professional psychotherapists and counsellors from over 25 different countries.

This study is important as the first comprehensive survey of the profession in Australia. Government advisers have indicated an urgent need for a more comprehensive profile of the profession to inform future policy and planning around the provision and funding of mental health and community services.

Restructure of Australian Govt Youth, Transitions and Career Programs

In May the Minister for Youth, Kate Ellis, announced that the Australian Government will reform its $618 million investment in transition programs to ensure that young Australians at risk of falling through the cracks get the support they need to get into training and work.

From 1 January 2010 existing Australian Government youth, transitions and career programs will be restructured into two new initiatives targeted at supporting young people who need the most help to get a job. more...

Online Recording of CPD

An important element of the Professional Standards is for career development practitioners to undertake continuing professional development (CPD) to maintain a level of skills and knowledge to facilitate the delivery of high quality services to our clients. CDAA Professionals are expected to undertake 30 hours CPD per annum and Associates 20 hours. The CDAA CPD Policy provides members with scope and flexibility both in terms of the range of CPD activities that can be engaged in to meet these requirements as well as latitude in accumulating the required number of hours.

CICA has funded the development of an online CPD tracking/recording system, Evolve, that individual members of CICA member associations will be able to access directly in order to record, maintain and update the CPD they undertake. By entering your participation in a CPD activity once, it will appear in the CPD records of all of the CICA Member Associations to which you belong.

I am pleased to say that Evolve is now being rolled out to CDAA members. Our website at www.cdaa.org.au/content/recording-cpd-activities provides further information about the CDAA Schedule of CPD Activities, a Member Guide to Evolve and advice for logging in to Evolve. Once you are logged on make sure that you:

  • Click on My Profile to review, and if necessary update, your Member Details
  • Enter any CPD activities in which you have engaged over the last 6-12 months by Adding CPD Events to your record

Some time at future Divisional PD activities will be devoted to providing members with a more detailed briefing about Evolve and answering any questions you might have about using the system. As members get used to the system and are using it on a regular basis the Association will look at how the News and Resources sections may be used for the benefit of members.

For the moment I encourage you to log in and use this excellent system for maintaining a record of your CPD activities.
