Happy New Year - and what a year it will be for AACC

Welcome to the first edition of e-bulletin for 2008. This will be a very significant year for AACC. The article below details the streamlining of our accounting processes that will bring improved financial service delivery and reporting.

Other significant initiatives to be introduced during 2008 will be:

  • At the AGM in Hobart in March you will vote on the name change from Australian Association of Career Counsellors to the more inclusive name, Career Development Association of Australia
  • At the AGM there will also be a proposal to restructure the National Executive Committee (NEC) in order to ensure more effective governance and long-term sustainability and viability
  • Later this month members will be given an opportunity to chose the new logo for the Association
  • In February AACC will advertise for a full-time Executive Officer based in Adelaide in order to take the next step forward in growth and development. It is hoped that by 2009 at the latest the Association will have its own premises in Adelaide.

e-bulletin will keep you informed of all these exciting developments as the year progresses. So watch this space....

Introducing AACC's new National Bookkeeper - Peter Adams
AACC is pleased to announce streamlining of its accounting processes, the most significant of which is the appointment of a National Bookkeeper. Peter Adams is from Adelaide and is currently employed by The Islamic college of South Australia as Bursar. Peter can be contacted there on (08) 8340 7799, Fax (08) 8340 9988 or email padams@senet.com.au
Another streamlining initiative is the consolidation of all AACC bank accounts into the one National account. Additionally, payments from AACC, including reimbursements, can now be made by direct transfer. These changes will greatly reduce the workload of our volunteer National and Divisional Treasurers.

Certificate IV in Career Development & Vocational Graduate Certificate in Career Development Practice
The CHC02 Community Services Training Package Review Draft 2 is due for release on 21 December 2008. Draft 2 will be available for comment until late March 2008. The CHC02 Review includes a review of all qualifications in the Community Services Training Package including the Certificate IV in Career Development which was endorsed as part of the CHC02 in September 2007. NB. The CHC02 Review does not affect Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) wishing to implement the recently endorsed Certificate IV in Career Development immediately. The Industry Reference Group overseeing the area of Career Development has proposed a draft Vocational Graduate Certificate in Career Development Practice which will be released for validation during the Draft 2 period. The CHC02 Review is due for completion by mid 2008. For further information visit the project web page
